A programme of extremes in which the Hungarian pianist István Lajkó will be playing one of Schumann’s sonatas and promoting his famous fellow countryman György Ligeti. The Russian violinist Andrey Baranov won the third international Benjamin Britten violin competition. Accompanied by his compatriot, pianist Inga Dzektser, among the works he will be performing is Prokofiev’s dramatic First Violin Sonata. This concert is part of the series: New Masters on Tour. The International Holland Music Sessions is one of the most important festivals in the world for supporting exceptional international talent in classical music. For a number of weeks in the summer soloists from more than 25 countries give daily concerts with the piano, violin and cello in the limelight. In the course of the year concerts are being organised throughout the whole country under the title New Masters on Tour. Five of these concerts in an intimate setting will be playing in The Hague classics series: Haagse Klassieken, in their own series.
