'Poetic pearls of Italian with a dusky voice. Testa simply sings as if he is chatting to you in an Italian pavement cafe,' wrote the Volkskrant newspaper about the Italian singer songwriter Gianmaria Testa. As a railway station chief for years he saw travellers coming and going. He made songs of their stories and that is how he conquered the world. This evening the Italian and his accompaniers present a spectrum of fine songs with a voice that suggests a love of grappa and cigarettes.
Algemeen Dagblad newspaper: Testa's texts are lyrical and impressionist, a style that leaves a lot of scope for the imagination of the listener. The Volkskrant newspaper: 'Poetic pearls of Italian with a dusky voice. 'Testa simply sings as if he is chatting to you in an Italian pavement cafe or muttering. He has a comfortable dusky voice, buttery at the edges and kept moist with many sighs and sputtering. (...) Testa talk/sings so intimately and intensely, accompanied by his own guitar that he brings tears to your eyes. (...).'
